The time nor the place proved to be a matter of effect for Belal Muhammad as he picked up apart the reigning champ Leon Edwards. Despite going the distance, Muhammad had Edwards on the back foot for the entirety of the fight as he doubled him in total strikes (192 to 89) and maintained control for much of the takedowns.
The fight contained some moments of sheer brutality between the welterweights, including Edwards getting dropped on his head and Muhammad streaming blood at the fights end with a vigorous final blow to the nose by the desperate Edwards. Though the blow proved to be visually damning, the picture was not worth a thousand words in this particular instance.
Edwards will have his work cut out for him as he tries to find his way back to a title shot, until then Muhammad will carry that title with joy.
